ERNI is now expanding its ERmet family of 2.0-mm HM connectors to include through-hole reflow (THR) versions of the type C connectors.

The right-angle type C ERmet THR female connector offers 55 (5 x 11) signal contacts on 25-mm modules. Thus, ERNI now offers type A, B, AB and C female ERmet connectors with THR termination. The ERmet female connector with THR termination is designed for economical, fully automatic, surface-mount- technology (SMT) placement of modern plug-in cards.

The new ERmet type C female connectors with THR termination and pre-alignment guides are available with or without a metal shield but are not equipped with pre-alignment pins. For fully automatic feeding into automatic placement machines, the new THR female connectors are available in tray packaging.

Its high-temperature-resistant thermoplastic (LCP) insulating body allows manufacturers to use the connector in all conventional SMT soldering processes (such as reflow soldering). The new THR-terminated ERmet female connectors are already configured for RoHS-compliant production. Additional specifications include a current-carrying capacity of 1.5 A (20 °C) and at least 250 mating cycles.
