Background information
This design, which connects to the newly developed TD-SCDMA network, delivers advanced 3G services, including video calling and music downloads, to the rapidly expanding market for next-generation phones in China.
Working closely with T3G Technologies, a leading provider of TD-SCDMA terminal solutions, Philips has extended its proven Nexperia cellular system architecture to support TD-SCDMA.
In addition to the core chipset, which includes a dual-mode digital baseband, a GSM/GPRS transceiver, a GSM/GPRS PA module, and a power management unit (PMU), the design includes a TD-SCDMA modem, a TD-SCDMA analog baseband, a TD-SCDMA RF module, and a video coprocessor that extends the multimedia capabilities of the core chipset.
The design supports a wide range of multimedia and connectivity applications while minimizing power consumption to deliver industry-leading standby and talk times.
Each Nexperia cellular system solution is a carefully designed combination of powerful core hardware and proven, mature software. More than 200 million Nexperia-based systems have been brought to market, making these platforms some of the most extensively proven designs available.
For wireless connectivity, the solution has built-in options for USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 1.2.
To help customers design the right products quickly, we offer an extensive support network of software engineers and cellular experts working in locations throughout the world, with a particularly strong presence in Asia. We combine this field support with regularly held training sessions, for hands-on learning.
