Personal Healthcare could potentially change as two disruptive forces come together. That’s the message in a new White Paper from Laird Technologies Wireless Systems, a global leader in the design and manufacture of systems for wireless and other advanced electronics and supplier of wireless technology to the medical market.
The White Paper titled “Trust me, I’m not a doctor – The changing nature of healthcare”, argues that new technologies and applications will push new personal medical monitors into the local storefront and disrupt the current balance of power in the doctor / patient relationship.
The forces driving this change are Internet connected consumer medical devices and websites that bring together the power of cognitive behavior research and e-therapy to remote treatment. Together they’re poised to combine their respective segments of expertise to produce a new generation of consumer health products. This has the potential of becoming a most disruptive change to traditional medical practice. If successful, it could potentially take healthcare out of the hands of today’s professionals and transfer it to the local store as a consumer offering.
The white paper, written by Nick Hunn, Advanced Technology Director at Laird Technologies, is launching at the Medica 2008 tradeshow in Dusseldorf – the world’s largest exhibition for medical and healthcare products. Laird Technologies’ latest wireless products will be on display at the Bluetooth Stand in Hall 15, Stand C48. Mr. Hunn will speak and deliver the white paper at two presentations in the Bluetooth Theatre stand C48: Wednesday, November 19th at 12:30 pm during the Delivering Consumer Medical Devices presentation and again on Friday, November 21st at noon during the Home Health Monitoring and Assisted Living presentation.
