Linear Technology introduces the LTC2433-1 a low noise, low cost, 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The LTC2433-1 offers exceptional noise performance of 1.45µVRMS, enabling 16-bit performance over a wide reference range of 100mV to 5V. A 100mV reference resolves a differential input signal of ±50mV to 16-bits without the need of a PGA, allowing direct digitization of many sensors. In a 10-pin MSOP package less than half the size of an SO-8, the LTC2433-1 can fit within the shell of a sensor or transducer. The LTC2433-1 is not only small and low noise, but also very accurate and easy to use.
The LTC2433-1 performs transparent offset and full-scale calibration on every conversion to provide 20µV (Max) offset error, 1.25LSB (Max) full-scale error, 1.25LSB (Max) integral non-linearity (INL) error, and transition noise less than 0.02LSB. It has a proprietary no latency architecture that allows single cycle settling. This avoids the need to discard data until the digital filter has settled, as required with other high resolution ADCs. Transparent calibration and single cycle settling dramatically simplify system software.
A highly accurate on-chip oscillator eliminates the need for costly external frequency setting components such as crystals or external clock sources. The filter rejects line frequencies to 87dB and offers simultaneous 50Hz/60Hz rejection. An external clock source can be used to reject other frequencies or increase the output rate. The external clock feature allows the LTC2433-1 to output data as fast as 100Hz with 16-ENOBs (Effective Number of Bits).
Offered in the 10-pin MSOP, the LTC2433-1 is available in both commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Pricing begins at $1.95 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
