Centillium Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTLM), a leading innovator of broadband access solutions, today announced its Optical Services Gateway platform, the industry's first solution integrating optical and VoIP technologies. The platform is the only one in existence today that enables systems vendors to immediately offer an integrated services gateway solution to their customers. The new Optical Service Gateway is ideal for service providers striving to deliver superior voice, video and data services capabilities over their passive optical network (PON) access infrastructure to both residences and businesses.

The new Optical Services Gateway platform marries Centillium's groundbreaking Mustang™ EPON (Ethernet passive optical network) system chip with the VoIP, routing and advanced security capabilities of its award-winning, Atlanta™ product family. By tightly integrating the company's Mustang and Atlanta chipsets with a comprehensive, turnkey software package, system vendors can easily develop enhanced optical network units (ONUs) that enable service providers to offer premium, triple-play capabilities. Additionally, a common management interface simplifies the provisioning and monitoring of the Optical Services Gateway, further reducing development costs and time-to-market.

"As PON rollouts quickly pick up steam around the world, equipment manufacturers and service providers alike want to be sure that the platforms they choose will have the integrated flexibility to confidently deliver multiple high-revenue services with simple and familiar provisioning and management tools," said Jeff Heynen, directing analyst, Broadband and IPTV, Infonetics Research. "Centillium's new platform helps future-proof ONUs by integrating support for the must-have features of any PON deployment."

"Centillium's new Optical Services Gateway platform offers us an integrated solution that encompasses technologies that once required multiple vendors to provide," said K.B. Kim, Vice President of Product Management at Corecess. "It helps us achieve faster time-to-market with lower bill of material costs and development expenses. With Centillium's unique solution, we are enabling service providers to roll out advanced broadband services like VoIP and IPTV quickly to generate more revenues and accelerate the return on investment in their optical access infrastructure."

"Centillium has leaped ahead of the competition when it comes to making broadband services easy for our customers to deploy, and our newest gateway platform is a testament to this fact," said Didier Boivin, vice president of marketing for Centillium Communications. "Today's announcement marks the first in a series of solutions that will help expedite the delivery of advanced services to market, ultimately helping optical developers bring multimedia capabilities to detached homes, apartments and businesses.. With our new solutions, we are helping to increase return on investment across the broadband customer chain."

Centillium's optical services gateway platform leverages the best of the company's core broadband technologies: the high-speed network access of its optical products and ironclad, enterprise-level security and encryption for voice and data. The result is a secure gateway that has direct connectivity to network services, such as IPTV, HDTV and video on demand, among others.

Centillium's Optical Services Gateway platform is supported by a development and evaluation kit which includes a multi-functional customer evaluation board, reference designs and a turnkey software package.
