Driving while talking on a mobile phone has become a hot topic in many parts of the world as legislators are increasingly banning mobile handset use while driving for added safety. New applications for information and entertainment also are pushing the need to connect automotive electronics and wireless handsets. Handsfree operation of mobile phones is becoming essential in todays automobile. Nationals Simply Blue family of modules
Featuring highly integrated radio and baseband processors, the Simply Blue modules represent today’s leading-edge Bluetooth wireless technology.Due to their low power consumption and exceptionally small footprints (10.1 x 14 x 2.0 mm), the modules are ideally suited for battery-powered, portable applications. The Simply Blue modules provide metal-can shielding and radio front-end filtering for effective immunity to close proximity radio noise (frequently present in today’s portable devices). Bluetooth V1.1 compliant, the modules support in-field upgrades and/or functionality enhancements.

The first in a line of Simply Blue products, the LMX9820A Serial Port Module, is designed to significantly reduce the design complexity and cost-of-adoption for applications using Bluetooth technology for UART serial port (RS-232) data connectivity.
To simplify and accelerate the design cycle, Nationals Simply Blue modules are supported by a comprehensive development suite including demo boards, example source code, and detailed echnical support documentation. Currently, National is specifying and developing additional modules for the Simply Blue product family
