Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that it has extended the IHLP family of low-profile, high-current inductors with a new device that offers the lowest DCR/?H available in a 0.402-in. by 0.402-in. [10.2-mm by 10.2-mm] package with a low 0.157-in. [4.0-mm] height profile.
The new IHLP-4040DZ-15 is a high-performance, space- and power-saving solution that features industry-leading specifications including DCR values down to 0.50 mΩ at 0.19 ?H. This new Vishay Dale power inductor is intended for dc-to-dc converter applications in end products including next-generation mobile devices; notebooks, desktop computers, servers, and graphics cards; and low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters. It will also be used in distributed power systems and to regulate power for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
In addition to providing the lowest DCR and highest current rating of any similarly sized device on the market, the IHLP-4040DZ-15 handles high transient current spikes without saturation and operates over a frequency range up to 1 MHz. Saturation current and typical DCR values for the inductor range up to 44 A and from 0.50 mΩ to 5.20 mΩ, respectively, over an inductance range of 0.19 ?H to 2 ?H. Inductance tolerance for the new device is 20%.
New IHLP-4040DZ-15 Low-Profile, High-Current Inductor: Summary Table
The RoHS-compliant IHLP-4040DZ-15 is rated for an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C. It features a 100% lead (Pb)-free, shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels.
Samples and production quantities of the new IHLP-4040DZ-15 are available now, with a lead time of eight weeks for larger orders.
