Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today announced that its new iSensor?intelligent sensor , the ADIS16350, won a silver 揃est of Sensors Expo?Award in the sensors category. Leveraging Analog Devices?iMEMS?Motion Signal Processing Technology? the ADIS16350 inertial measurement unit (IMU) combines three axes of angular rate sensing, three axes of acceleration sensing and a temperature sensor to cost-effectively provide full six-degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) motion measurement in applications such as vehicle-mounted cameras and antennas, commercial aircraft guidance units, robotics, and prosthetics. Honoring the companies and the products that are at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the sensors industry, the 2007 揃est of Sensors Expo?Awards were announced June 13 in Rosemont, Ill., where industry leaders were gathered for the Sensors Expo & Conference.

"Our Sensors Expo Awards program recognizes those companies, like Analog Devices, that are truly at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the sensors industry," said Melanie Martella, executive editor of Sensors magazine. "Choosing the winners from the exceptional pool of candidates was very difficult. I offer hearty congratulations to Analog Devices for winning a 態est of Sensors Expo?Award in the sensors category for its truly remarkable iSensor?intelligent sensor, the new ADIS16355.?

For industrial equipment, the new IMU delivers advanced performance and functionality in an easy-to-integrate solution, which offers a 50-times improvement in sensor accuracy at approximately one tenth of the cost of other off-the-shelf inertial sensors. With all critical IMU calibrations and compensations done during manufacturing by using a range of proprietary test capabilities, the new sensor can reduce system development time by up to 12 months, while potentially saving customers hundreds of thousands of dollars in test equipment costs.

揥e are honored to have our new six-degrees-of-freedom sensor recognized with a 態est of Sensors Expo?Award by Sensors magazine, one of the industry抯 most respected publications,?said Andy Garner, product line director for iSensor intelligent sensor products, Analog Devices. 揥ith the ADIS16350 and the recently launched ADIS16355, industrial designers can easily equip their products with full-range, multi-axis inertial sensing at a fraction of the cost. A comprehensive factory calibration process and a simple, programmable interface ensure that the new sensors are highly precise and ready for integration right out-of-the-box.?/P>

The ADIS16350 6DOF sensor can be used anywhere high-performance position or motion detection is required, such as vehicle-mounted cameras and antennas, commercial aircraft guidance units, robotics, and prosthetics. In aircraft, ships, truck fleets, agricultural equipment, and other vehicles that rely on GPS (global positioning system) satellite navigation to maintain accurate positional information, the IMU compensates for GPS signal loss or vehicle-induced signal irregularities.

Finalists for the 揃est of Sensors Expo?Awards were selected by a panel of judges comprising Sensors magazine editorial staff, members of the Sensors magazine editorial advisory board and industry experts.
